  1. Penny Lane is a street in Liverpool, and also the title of a Beatles song, on the SPLHC album.

The Penny Lane in London. (this is a "London bus"), obviously has nothing to do with the Beatles.

I remember seeing these old "Route Master" style buses driving around Hong Kong. They are not so commonly seen in London now.

From an engineering perspective their design was a stroke of genius. Engine aside the drive to make a flat front. Wheels set back to improve turning circle. Access door at the back. 3mm steel, so rust can be cut out, and patches welded to the frame.

Shame this bus, only serves ice-cream now.
    Still, everyone likes ice-cream.

  2. HP,

You're perhaps right in engineering wise and appear to expect the bus driving on the roads in Hong Kong from its durability's point of view...

The bus I saw in the village has retired from London Transport but began her second life in different way than other buses do, serving meals, showing a lot of British stuffs on it then delivering a happiness for those visitors in the village, which is much happier than getting scrapped for nothing. There is no job unneedful in the world... She's just applied to what she was needed to be next. Hence I would rather respect the track of her professional career.

BTW, there is no song named "Penny Lane" on the SPLHC album but on Magical Mystery Tour :-)

    Cheers...T
